Focus of instruction has changed dramatically in the past 10 years. It has switched from teaching reading, writing, math, science, social studies to teaching solely language and audition in a therapy based setting. It has been said that a student cannot read and write above their expressive and receptive language skills. This statement is powerful and the driving force to work hard on teaching thorough expressive and receptive skills so my students can be successfully literate adults.

I embrace the knowledge I gain through the years and the ability to reflect on my experiences that alter my views on pedagogy for deaf and and hard of hearing individuals. It is through these experiences that shape our future leaders.
